SUMMER PROGRAM 2021/22

Culturally diverse meals for our local community!

11 weeks of dishes served fresh for the CALD community. Scroll down to view our menu!

With over 70 youth volunteers, COOK4CALD was able to provide over 1800 meals to the local community. There were plenty of obstacles to overcome, but the passion and enthusiasm from the volunteers allowed us to persevere through everything that was thrown at us.

Our program was initially planned to span over December to February, however as COVID-19 surged in January, we decided to close our kitchen for the safety of the volunteers. After a break, we came back in March to finish the 5 weeks we had planned to prepare and delivery our meals.

Additionally, as we came back in March, we were approached by the City of Casey to provide an additional day of food relief to the CALD community. We had never run twice a week before, so it was definitely a challenge to complete the program with double the efforts needed. The determination from our volunteers saw us through, where we ended our program with over 1800 meals prepared and delivered.

As the fuel prices sky rocketed for the second leg of our program, the community came together in donating funds for us to provide $10 fuel vouchers to our delivery drivers, as they were driving from Pakenham - Clayton!

All in all, this was a very successful Summer Program and we are so grateful for every single volunteer that showed up and worked hard to ensure our CALD community was provided for!

“ I love working with COOK4CALD because it connects me to something bigger than myself. An afternoon of cooking and laughing with friends feels nicer knowing it makes a massive difference in the lives of people it benefits!”
